We couldn't make this stuff up: There's a story going around about a guy who bought a 40GB iPod from Smalldog.com. When he opened the box, he found what he had actually purchased was two bars of soap and a package of batteries. There is only speculation about how the items got into the shrinkwrapped box, but a recount of his conversation with Smalldog's customer service rep can be found at Consumerist.com. Don't expect an expletive-laced tirade; apparently Smalldog was extremely accommodating and shipped him a new unit overnight.
