New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson is getting some attention for pushing his state to spend $4 million on stem-cell research.

It's not a lot of money, even for a small state. But Richardson -- a potential presidential candidate in 2008 -- is already getting blowback, according to an AP story:
Richardson, by the way, is Catholic himself.
(Useless trivia alert: New Mexico actually has a state cookie, called the Biscochito. Maybe that explains why its governor is a man of, um, substance.)
