Internet marketers now have their own corner of the Web 2.0 universe. PlugIM is a Digg clone built especially for web marketing folks, independent professional bloggers and anyone who includes promotions, page view tracking and advertising as part of their job duties.

Links to articles and marketing tools get posted to the site by the users, and the most popular stories are promoted to the front door based on how many "Plugs" they get. Yes, Plugs work just like Diggs. Right now, the front door is populated by articles about optimizing social media, blogging best practices and organic methods for increasing traffic.

The site launched about 7 weeks ago, but it really took off when it was
mentioned in a comment in a story on Digg.com. Interest in the site
resulted in a few enhancements being rolled out over this past weekend.
The site accepts anonymous plugs, so, unlike Digg, you can vote a story
up without logging in or creating an account. PlugIM also added links
at the bottom of each post that automatically save the various memes to your favorite social bookmarking sites.

PlugIM doesn't have a significant amount of user-submitted content just yet, but the community is still young. Ironically, the site's operators are in a great position to benefit from diving into the articles posted to their site. Case study, guys!
