Korean women are protesting a sex education expo in Seoul, claiming that the focus on stripping, nude model photo sessions and lingerie shows only tell part of the story.
And maybe something about female pleasure? Reaching out to women means more than looking at "issues." Without downplaying the importance of medical, social and political concerns, I submit that an acknowledgement of – and respect for – female sexual pleasure goes a long way toward effecting change.
Scantily clad models and strip teases add to the atmosphere of a sex convention and help men and women become more relaxed about the whole thing. But they shouldn't all be female, nor should they all be straight or performing for heterosexual people.
That said, kudos for Seoul for attempting to host the first adult convention in Korea, especially when you have to police it for what you consider obscene. I don't expect y'all to be open and pansexual the first time (although that would be nice). I recognize that these things take time – lots of steps, and each one needs to be defended and protested against, because people change their minds slowly. Especially when the change is to become more accepting rather than more conservative.
