I just learned I'm a finalist for the 2006 Erotic Awards

What a neat email to come home to tonight – I'm a finalist in the Erotic Awards:

Honouring erotic artists and all those who work to promote sexual pleasure and freedom.

The Erotic Awards are an independent British philanthropic venture of the Leydig Trust. We began as a small group of enthusiasts and idealists in 1993, to promote and honour people who work with sex, and help form an erotic community, where networking and inspiration flourish. We bridge the divide between the sometimes soul-less commercial world and the lone artists, sex workers and pioneers who lovingly create their own sensual and sexual innovations. Our emphasis is on sharing creativity rather than serious competition.

The Erotic Awards raise funds for Outsiders, a disability charity which runs the National Sex and Disability Helpline and a unique members' club, encouraging and providing the means for disabled people to make new friends and find sexual partners. Outsiders was 25 years old last year, and this longevity is thanks to our fundraising efforts.

Whoever nominated me, thanks very much! While I don't consider Sex Drive particularly erotic, I do try to cut through the fear, the shame, oh-let-me-just-say-it-the-BULLSHIT and offer a more sensible perspective on sex and technology.

I am definitely all for sexual pleasure and freedom and hope that I can continue to do my part in the sexual revolution 2.0 for a long time to come.

And I'd like to thank my parents, and my sister, and my friends, and John Boe, and my first grade teacher, and all my cyber lovers past and present and my producer and my agent and my manager, oh thank you you're the best team ever, and most of all, my most profound thanks to my dog, as without you I would never have come this far ... and if you see a sexual innuendo in that, you're pervier than I am and beyond my help ...
