Rep. Diana DeGette (D-Colorado) hoped to meet with President Bush to try to convince him not to veto the Embryonic Stem Cell Research Enhancement bill, which she cosponsored. The bill passed in the House last year and could get a vote in the Senate next week. But DeGette got a rejection letter from the White House with no explanation a day after Karl Rove visited her hometown and announced that Bush would indeed veto the bill.
