Turn your next frag fest into art. Alison Mealey's computer programs transform action from the Unreal Tournament videogame into images worthy of framing. The UK artist and gamer wrote code to capture and modify statistics (such as character position) generated by the first-person shooter. Her open source apps, dubbed Unreal Art, draw abstract portraits like Lily shown here. Examples of Mealey's work will be on display early next year at London's Apart showroom as part of the multimedia project GamePaused. The exhibit will celebrate the work of many artists who, like Mealey, believe that videogames are more than just entertainment - they're inspiration.
