Wear a horse suit, go to jail. That's the message sent by a recent Hong Kong court ruling, which found Matt Pearce, a British resident of the Chinese territory, guilty of disorderly conduct and causing a public nuisance for donning a pro-democracy horse costume and trotting onto the Shatin racetrack. Pearce, whose horse disguise bore the words "Demand Democracy Now," pleaded innocent. "The government is trying to stop me, but I'm not someone who's easily stopped," Pearce said. "If it comes down to it, I'm prepared to go to prison for my belief in democracy." Pearce faced a similar charge after he dressed as Spider-Man and scaled a giant TV screen in downtown Hong Kong to protest China's Tiananmen Square crackdown, but hasn't gone to trial.
