Proclaiming your love to pop stars has always been a one-way street. To add insult to injury, the Backstreet Boys have figured out how to make you pay for it. On its current tour, the fab five are using Text-2-Screen, which flashes notes phoned in by fans– at $2.99 a pop! - across a giant monitor at the concert arena. "We've got an AI filter to screen messages," warns Alex Campbell, CEO of Vibes Media, developer of T-2-S. What that means: no cursing, ethnic slurs, or overtly sexual language. Says Backstreet's Howie Dorough, "Sometimes we get crazy messages. Like, 'A. J., I saw you in the last city. Why didn't you call me?'" Alas, there's no filter for a woman scorned.
