My question is, What does this system do to the human cargo that may be hidden in the truck (i.e., those attempting to enter the United States illegally) ("New Nukes at U.S. Border," Aug. 27, 2004)?

I have one main question in connection with this ("Induce Act Draws Support, Venom," Aug. 26, 2004). Who, exactly, are the millions of hard-working Americans being deprived by the copying of music and videos.... or anything else? It would be rewarding to hear Hatch's reply to this. And since when has the government been particularly concerned about the workers, except with respect to taxes?

Excellent summary of the state-of-play on Induce ("Induce Act Draws Support, Venom," Aug. 26, 2004). I am puzzled however by the phrase "significantly that list of cosponsors now includes two of Congress' most influential members: Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist ... and Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle..."
That makes it sound like the two leaders just gave Induce new momentum: In fact, both were original cosponsors of the bill on June 22, one reason why the bill sent out alarm signals right away. It should also be clear by now that Hatch, Leahy et. al. have the strategy of appearing to broaden their base of support by drawing opponents into drafting negotiations. In my view, this bill is not salvageable, and any bargaining efforts by the tech sector need to be backed up by fairly intense, outright opposition.

Subject: Attacking the Fourth Estate
To my mind, the publishing of a CIA operative's identity is totally irresponsible and borders on treason and should be punishable by law ("Attacking the Fourth Estate," Aug. 25, 2004). The person who leaked this information should likewise be punished.
As to the rights of the Fourth Estate:
When a reporter publishes material that gives aid, comfort or information to the enemy, he has, in my opinion, forfieted the rights granted by the Constitution. Some of the reporting seen during the Iraq war falls into this category.
As to the reporter in question:
If the government truly intends to find and prosecute the source of the leak, then they should use all means necessary to do so.
